As winners of the 2nd Annual Indy Random Band Challenge, we the Unicorns who Derby get to play at this years Random Band Challenge at The Hi-Fi.
It’s back!
3rd Annual Indy Random Band
Challenge Presented by Uptown Sound Productions, Square Cat Vinyl & Virginia Avenue Music FestRULES:
Band mates were selected by random drawing on January 4th. They have roughly 2 months to prepare 3 original songs (or 15 minutes of original material) to perform on March 3rd at The Hi-Fi.Each band was given a special noun, in which one song has to be written about or mentioned in a creative way.
A Panel of judges will rate each group on a 5 point scale: Stage Presence, Originality, Song Quality, Execution of “Noun Song” & Band Name.
The audience members will also get to vote for their favorite bands. The votes are balanced between audience participation and judges, so it defiantly helps to invite people to support you, but not in a lop-sided way!
The winner will walk away with cash, a recording package from Uptown Sound and an opening slot on the Virginia Avenue Music Feast main stage!

Thanks to Square Cat Vinyl and The Hi-Fi, and our own awesomeness, we won the 2017 Random Band Contest and earned eight hours of recording time at The Lodge Recording Studios due to their crazy good donation and sponsorship.Friday night, thanks to Square Cat and Flat 12, we will be rocking out the songs from our new ‘Explosion of Awesome’ EP and more magical new songs as well.
Our two-legged friends from the OCHO and The 1923, fellow top three bands from the Random Band Contest, will be joining us.
Flat 12 beer samples, specials, Unicorn merch and more!
